After the Spanish were pushed out of Mexico on September 16, 1821; the Mexican Republic assumed reign over all of Spain's land that the country recently was pushed out of. So the Mexicans took over, then Texas seceded and became its own republic. After two years, the Texans became a member of The United States.

The earliest known inhabitants of Texas were Native American tribes, including the Coahuiltecan, Apache, Comanche, and Karankawa, among others. These indigenous peoples have a long history of living in the region before European colonization.

"Texas" is a modern concept, a purely artificial division of the North American land mass - it did not exist as Texas when the first native Americans arrived.The very early natives in the area that became Texas were the pre-Clovis culture, perhaps as much as 15,500 years ago. These people are known only by their chert tools.
