Which olive oil is for cooking and which is for salad?

Olive oil (the same kind) can be used for both cooking and salad dressings. The best to use - especially for salads - is extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil has the highest olive flavor. Regular olive oil is light in flavor, and extra light has very little olive flavor.

Can olive oil replace vegetable oil in cookies?

Olive oil is vegetable oil, only better for you. Extra virgin has a lovely olive flavor which you might not appreciate in your biscuits, so extra light (oil NOT from the first pressing of the olives) might be a good idea. I use it and like it

What is a full flavored evoo What is a full flavored extra virgin olive oil evoo?

A full flavored EVOO (or extra virgin olive oil) is an olive oil that is robust in flavor. Usually having a very "earthy" taste. Typically the EVOO with the fullest flavor is Kalamata Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Most Greek EVOO is Kalamata. The one that I found has had the best full flavor is Martinis Extra Virgin Olive Oil, imported directly from Greece. It can be found at Amazon.com, shop.martinisinc.com, or even at your local Trader Joe's.

Depends what you are doing with it, olive oil works great at making salad dressing, sauteing, frying eggs, and making some sauces. I have read that olive oil is not a good oil to deep fry with.

Should you use olive oil or vegetable oil instead of canola oil?

vegetable oil has a higher smoke point than olive oil but olive oil has better flavor. If you're frying for a significant amount of time use vege oil, if frying for a short amt of time you can use olive. If you're in the middle you can blend olive and vege to heighten your smoke point so the olive won't burn and still get the flavor

Can you substitute olive oil for vegetable oil when making waffles?

Olive oil CAN be used for frying, but you must have a HIGH quality, Virgin or Extra Virgin olive oil before attempting to cook with it. Various industry sources tend to place the Smoke Point of High Grade olive oil at around 400 degrees Fahrenheit and most frying is done somewhere UNDER 375 degrees, so this shouldn't be an issue. There are two main methods of frying and the relative merits of each method as it pertains to Olive Oil is as follows: 1) Saute'/Pan Frying. Pan frying requires a relatively small amount of oil and therefore is a rather economical method of frying food. Since E.V. olive oil tends to have a strong (but pleasant) flavor, this method works well with strong flavored foods such as onions, garlic, peppers, asparagus etc. 2) Deep Frying. While it's COMPLETELY possible to deep fry in High Grade olive oil, it's Pure Lunacy to do so. Virgin and Extra Virgin olive oil tends to cost ( I'm guessing here... ) about 3-5 times as much as decent vegetable oil and in general, would leave battered and/or breaded foods with WAY TOO MUCH oil flavor. On the other hand, if neither of those characteristics is an issue for you, then...
