Why do rete ridges form in excess during periodontal inflammation?

From online definition of Rete Ridges Rete Ridges are extensions of the epithelium into the connective tissue. They occur to an excess where epithelium lined tissues are irritated and inflamed such as the junctional epithelium during periodontal disease

What are the primary functions of the respiratory epithelium?

The primary functions of the respiratory epithelium is to humidify, filter, and warm the incoming air during respiration.

What is function of cilia in gaseous exchange?

More often in the area of bronchi there is formation of viscous mucous going through which becomes at extreme level during the cold and cough as normally we experience during the winter times. But the main function of ciliated cell is to provide the more surface area to enzymes which are digesting or metabolizing the mucous continuously. This answer does not answer what the special function is lol

What occurs during the repair phase of wound healing?

Either the normal cells that are supposed to be there fill in the wound (such as skin epithelium filling back in) or fibroblasts lay down fibrin that fills in the wound and pulls the edges together. Generally there is a mixture of these two happening - depending on which one is more prevalent you will have either a normal appearance to the wound or you will have a scar.

What is the role of DMSO in cell culture?

It is used as a cryo-protectant. DMSO prevents the formation of ice crystals and prevents cell lysis during thawing.

How long does it take for cornea cross linking to heal?

Corneal crosslinking is a technique that uses ultraviolet light and riboflavin to prevent further steepening or thinning of the cornea. This surgical procedure is usually done where the epithelium at the front of the eye is removed prior to exposing the eye to ultraviolet light treatment. Because corneal epithelium is removed, the patient will in essence have a corneal abrasion that can last anywhere from one week to even a couple of months. Healing times can vary per patient but expect discomfort during the period where the cornea has to recover from the surgical procedure. During the healing process, it is normal to have antibiotic coverage to prevent an eye infection. In addition, a bandage contact lens may be applied to improve comfort during the healing process.

Will a wound itch during healing?

Often, yes.

Does Granulation tissue form normally during the healing of a wound?

Does macrophages release histamines during wound healing?

Can a tongue ring be too small?

yes. Especially during healing. You want a longer bar during healing to allow for swelling. Other than healing, the bar can be too short and really tight against the tongue. Not sure if it can go through the piercing like it can while healing but I'd be wary. Just get whatever length is most comfortable for you.

What is the healing process during which the edges of a wound are pulled closer together?

Cicatricial contraction is the healing process during which the edges of a wound shrink and pulled closer together. The scar left by this process is called a cicatrix.
