Sounds to me like piston slap. After a while, the piston rings wear enough material away from the cylinder walls that there can be a larger gap than specification. In colder weather this gap increases even further, and when you first start your engine, the torque applied to the pistons by the rods a…nd crank make them pivot. The lower part of the pistons hit against the cylinder wall, and you hear something like a knocking noise coming from your motor.
