As someone from, and still living, in Ohio I was atending the University of Akron at the time. Everything that has been published since then states it was not the war protest that led to the shooting of the students. It was the push by the Kent police of rowdy bar patrons onto the KSU campus, and the riot that occurred , that was the cause of the national guard being there and the shootings. Actually, some of the guardsmen were KSU and UA students. I knew one who was there.
The shootings occurred during class changes and many of the people were students trying to get from one class to another. My cousin was on the KSU campus that day and would have been in the middle of the shootings but for the fact she stopped to talk to her teacher after class.
