The Texas government was no different than the United States government, except in their tactics. Both governments did not honor the treaties it signed with the Native Americans, but Texas went a step further to a "Salted Earth" policy (they would kill all Native Americans, men women and children) as well as destroy their crops (food) and burn their homes (villages).
It must be noted that the United States government did the same thing, but not as a standard operating policy.
