'Whitlam's Glue Wash Hand Cleaner' is sold at every plumbing wholesaler I know (that's quite a few) and it works perfectly. Just rinse your hands for a minute or two and it removes ABS glue, PVC glue and Transition cement very quickly.
Whitlam's Glue Wash dos melt ABS glue and easily takes it off skin. Due to this ,and the fact nothing else can do this, I certainly think it's worth a try on the carpet. What can you lose, it's already messed up with yellow glue.
ABS yellow glue is the correct glue for ABS pipe. The only other glue to consider is Weld On Transition cement if you are gluing ABS to PVC parts.
