What role should the federal government take in dealing with homelessness?

well really nothing it is the kind people who want to help people less fortunite them themselves that are helping with shelters giving them a okay place to stay and making sure they get food to eat so they are not really doing anything except putting almost 200.00 dollars in once or twice maybe a year.

The federal government has several policies in place to deal with homeless people (Title 42 grants); however in practice these programs (although funded) have their funds diverted for other uses: for example the USDA Rural Housing Department diverts funds intended for low and extremely low income families into its normal loan programs (even though congress approved those funds for use by extremely low income families, Section 501 loans). IE: the programs to deal with this are in place, but the administrators (and managing officers) are not doing their jobs according to congressional intent.
