It depends on the activity. For a sport of some type it would be best to make sure you are physically capable of doing it, as well as following minimum guidelines for protective equipment. The best and most general piece of advice I can give without knowing the actual activity would be to make sure you do not do anything alone. Always have a buddy. You are less likely to injure yourself if you have a spotter and you always want to make sure someone can call 911 for you if need be.
