You may have rusted bleeder screws.

To check them, and prevent brake fluid from leaking all over, you'll want to pinch off the rubber hose in the wheel well that leads from the end of the hard (metal) brake line to the brake assy.

> Jack the vehicle on jackstands.

> Remove the tire(s).

To prevent brake fluid from leaking out.

> Get some 'vise grips' (or similar locking pliers) and a piece of leather or a small piece of heavy cloth to make a couple of layers between the vise grip jaws and the hose. (The leather/cloth is used to minimize damage to the rubber line).

> Use the vise grips (with the leather or cloth between the vise grip jaws and the hose) to pinch the hose (tight, but don't overdo it)

Note: See below before trying to take out the bleeder screw if it's stubborn.

> Remove the bleeder screw and inspect by either blowing compressed air through it (watch out for your eyes) or if you don't have compressed air, get a thin wire (I think a paper clip will do) and ensure the (short) passage from the end of the bleeder screw to the hole in it's side is clear and open. If it's not, take it to an auto parts store and get a replacement)

***Be careful when trying to remove the bleeder screw. It helps if you have a 'flare nut' wrench; this looks like a 'closed end' wrench but with a slot cut in it, so it can slip around a brake line and onto the bleeder screw with almost the full grip of a closed end wrench; if you don't have one, and the bleeder screw is stubborn, try heating it w/a heat gun and cinching (a 2nd pair) of vise grips very tightly onto the B/S (bleeder screw) and giving it a good whack with a hammer to loosen it.

Bleeder valve for a 1997 Ford Ranger where is the bleeder valve for a 1997 Ford Ranger located?

The bleeder valve for the brakes on a 1997 Ford Ranger is located in the brake line where it meets the brake disc. The wheel will have to be removed to access the bleeder screw for drum brakes.

Do you need to bleed your brakes when you change the brake pads?

No, as long as your pedal seemed good before the brake job, and you do not loosen the bleeder at all, you do not have to bleed the brakes.

Why does the bleeder on brakes need to be on top of the caliper?

The most important use for the bleeder valve is to remove air from the braking system. As air rises and will not flush out of a bleeder mounted low on the brake the bleeder needs to be at the top.

How do you bleed brakes on 1996 Nissan truck?

Fill brake reservior to full and keep full thru out bleeding.Have someone pump brakes about 5 times and hold to floor, get clear hose and attach to bleeder screw on passenger rear, then driver rear, then passenger rfront, then driver front.Have other end of hose in glass container with brake fluid, open bleeder screw and watch for air coming out, continue until no more air is seen coming out, dont reuse brake fluid, discard.

Why no fluid comes out of bleeder?

the valve is probably corroded or there is sediment in the line and settled inside the bleeder. Remove the bleeder all the way and see if you get any fluid. be ready to re install the bleeder as you get fluid flowing. If you do not pump the brake pedal with the bleeder out you should be able to replace the valve with a new one quickly then bleed the brakes so get the air out.

How do you bleed the front brakes on a Honda crf450?

First make sure the fluid is full. Check that the bleeder can be opened. With the bleeder tight, have someone depress the brake and hold it in, you open the bleeder to let the air and fluid out. Close the bleeder and have the person release the brake. Check to make sure brake fluid is topped up, and repeat till all the air is out. Might help to attach a small hose at the end of the bleeder so that the brake fluid drains into a cup.

Bleeding front brakes on a 300 Honda fourtrax?

i have recently tried doing this. On the front brake there is a bleeder on the back side on the inside. There should be a rubber cap on it. Loosen this with a screw and pump the brakes to get the air out of the lines. Good Luck

Where is the bleeder valve forthe brakes of a dodge Dakota?

located on each brake caliper/wheel cylinder for drum brakes. have an assistant pump brake pedal several times then hold down. open bleeder valve. repeat on each wheel until only fluid comes out. top off master cylinder as required. I suggest using line wrench on bleeder screws.

When you are bleeding the rear drum brakes will gravity let the brake fluid flow out the bleeder screw?

Yes on most vehicles.

Where is the brake bleeder valve located in a 1996 Saturn Sl2?

The bleeder valve is a 8mm bolt for the rears located on top of the drum or on the caliper itself if you have disk rear brakes. For the front, a 10mm bolt is located on the caliper itself. PB blaster should be used to be sure the bleeder valve is not broken
