IT VARIES BUT AT LEAST 25PSI IDLE 50PSI AND UP HIGHWAY
AnswerAround 50psi. Answerrealy it depends on the car what type of oil pump is installed but at idle less then 10psi is normally not to good and highway 40 to 50 is great Answeroil pressure is normally at least 20psi idle and should be 40psi or more above 2000rpm. Answer10 p.s.i. for every 1000 r.p.m. is the general rule. The oil pressure gauge will fluctuate on a Chevy Tahoe when the vehicle is idling and when the vehicle is driven at highway speed. Idle is usually 30 psi oil pressure or slightly more. At highway speed, the oil pressure should be between 60 psi and 80 psi.
Need to know which engine you have.
i have a 1993 190E - my oil pressure gauge always sits on 3. ==New Answer Haedline == The oil pressure gauge actually moves but is related to several factors Engine Temprature Oil viscosity Engine speed. When you start you car the engine temperature is low the gauge goes to 3, after a long drive/travel and if your temp gets to 80C then with an engine speed of 750-800 RPM you oil pressure gauge will read about 1.5. if you rev. the engine the pressure gauge goes up to 3
who should i see about a recall on 2005 chevy trailblazer for faulty fuel gauge and not working speed gauge who can i call about this for a recall was bought used
As the engine speed increase so does the speed of the oil pump. the faster the pump turns the higher the pressure becomes. When changing gear the engine speed drops along with the oil pressure.
It depends on how your gauge is callibrated. It should be somewhere near the center of the gauge and shouldn't drop much when it's idling or hot. The manufacturer recommends a specific "weight" of oil, but when the engine gets older and worn the pressure will drop when hot and at an idle unless you select a higher viscosity oil. Oil lines have a pressure regulator which keeps the oil pressure from going too high. You should be able to see where the pressure is set when you first start the engine and everything is cold; the gauge should go up to that point and stop there consistently and should also stop there when you're running at highway speed. If the oil pressure drops much below that point when you're idling, the main and/or rod bearings are wearing which allows too much oil past.Again, IF the oil pressure is low, ahigher viscosity oil will staypressurized in the oil linesa little longer and will keep the engine from failing. not recommended overdrive is for cruising at highway speed
Speed up as fast as possible
No, why should it?
It all depends on the type of highway and the speed limit signs.
It is the posted speed.
Your average speed on the turnpike should be greater than on a highway.
