If the ATV will not make any noise when you press the start button, then the problem is most likely the battery or possibly a dirty contact on the starter button. You may also want to check the kill switch, especially if the lights are burning brightly and nothing happens.
If the starter makes plenty of noise, check the fuel petcock. If the ATV has been sitting in the garage for awhile, drain the gasoline tank and fill it with fresh gasoline. By the way, in order to prevent gasoline from going bad, use a gasoline stabilizer like Sta-Bil (r) which is about $5.
