Buy sizes 1 to 12, then try each one and see which fits! Damn!
You need an approximately 3/8" Allen wrench. Preferably one that is driven by an impact driver.
remove th front wheel, undo the 2 bolts on calipers and bushings, thenlift calipers off. HINT: if calipers seem to stick then get a large flat bladed screwdriver and wedge it between rotor and caliper and apply just enough force to back off pistons in calipers to remove them then they will slide off.
15 mm
I started this project with a set of Allen wrenches but didn't have the 9/32" that was required....So I just thought I'd mention that you need a 9/32" Allen wrench to remove the caliper on the 2002 Dodge Dakota and it isn't the most common in standard sets so make sure you have one before you pop the tires off and have no other vehicle to run out to the store...Comment to above: I was able to find a 7 mm hex head socket that worked.Answerhaha... if u want to remove them to replace worn pads, u need a set of Allen wrenches, a pry bar or LONG screwdriver (not to big), and quite possibly, a can of good penatrating spray such as PB Blaster. If u are takein them off completely, add a pair of Side Cutters... actually could be 1 of 3 different tools to remove the calipers ..they used torx,Allen and socket wrenches ..could be any of the above ..gm is the one that mostly used the t50 Allen wrenchesProbably a T45 torx.
That's a 7mm Allen key.
on a 2002 it is a 3/8 th Allen wrench Actually the proper ones are a 7mm and 10 mm for the bracket bolts
Remove the tire and wheel from your 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. Remove the brake pad springs and calipers. Reverse the process to install the new brake pads.
There is no need for a special tool to remove the caliper. It is removed like most other GM calipers. Retract the piston in the caliper and remove the Allen bolts that mount the unit to the A frame, then raise it up.additionThere is a special socket available at any parts store which is alot user friendly than fighting with sticky caliper pins with an Allen wrench. it's a 5 dollar socket that is basically an Allen wrench head jammed into a socket.
jack the truck up, remove the wheels. There is usually 2 bolts that hold the calipers on, and usually there is a bracket that holds the calipers to the pads. Remove old pads and replace with the new and replace the caliper, bracket, and bolts
Same way as the front. First remove the calipers, then remove the two cross-point screws that hold the caliper in place . finally, remove the rotors and replace.
there are two bolts that hold brake calipers to a u shaped bracket, remove them and then remove the two bolts holding the u shaped bracket. The rotors will come off at this point.
For my 2002 Ford Focus SE, I needed a 7mm hex key(like an Allen wrench). I could only find a 7mm hex key at my local autoparts store. In fact it seemed the only reason they had the 7mm was for brake calipers.
