You did not say what you were working on and that would help. Now I do know that it has to go to a direct vacuum source like the base of a carburetor or the intake manifold vacuum port.

You are taking too much vacuum away from the vacuum booster in the brake system. Try to find a smaller vacuum hose somewhere else in the engine to use for the Hydro Booster. The boost line for the brakes comes from the primary vacuum port on the intake manifold. Use a secondary vacuum source. That vacuum for the brakes needs to be undisturbed for correct operation of the braking system and the ABS if so equipped.

It might have four hoses? Pcv and Brake booster go to separate large ports, the pcv usually to the carb base and the booster to the manifold fitting. Vacuum advance goes to one of two small ports on the carb. Test to find the one that has no vac at idle but as soon as you touch the throttle you get vacuum. Cruise goes to either the small port on the intake or the carb base. It could be split off the vacuum advance.

The cause of hard brake pedal is malfunctioning brake booster. Check the hose from the intake manifold going to the brake booster for cracks or leakage, replace if necessary. Check the one way valve located in the middle of that hose, make sure the valve opens when you put pressure on one port.. If all those mentioned are ok, the booster itself needs to be replaced....

Nope, but you need to have a line going to your charcoal canister, PCV, EGR (from carb to temp valve, and then to EGR), heat riser, brake booster, distributor (vacuum advance), vent/heater "black ball", and possibly transmission if you have an automatic. Most all of those are full vacuum so any manifold or carb base port would work.

There should be a BIG vaccume port just behind the carburetor that is screewed into the intake and that's where it goes. Some carburetors had a vaccume port on the back of them that had a medal line that screewed into the back of the carburetor and the booster hose slid onto it. It can go in either place.

It is very unlikely that would trigger P0455. More than likely it is a leak between the engine vacuum port and the fuel tank. Check your EVAP lines between the two especially near the canister purge solenoid located near the brake booster!

There will be a vacuum hose that comes from the brake booster and hooks to the biggest port on the back of the carburetor. There is a vacuum hose that will come from the vacuum advance on the distributor and hook to the left small vacuum port on the front bottom of the carburetor. If you look at the front center of the carburetor at the bottom of it you will see a big vacuum port. The PCV valve hose will hook there and go in the top of a valve cover, should be driverside front. If it is a auto-matic transmission then there will be a long vacuum hose that is hooked to the modulator valve on the passenger side of the transmission and will go to a vacuum tee that you will see on the back of the intake manifold right behind the carburetor. Now I know there are other things on the engine that have to do with emissions but I long as you do not have to have it inspected you can disregaurd the rest of the stuff. The things that I told you about up above is all that you need to hook up to make this engine run good. All the other open vacuum ports can just be pluged off. I hope I've helped you. NEUTZ.

It does not hook to the intake. It fits on the big vacuum port on the back of the carburetor.
Where is the computer port on your 1985 f150?
Maybe in the fuse area, but more likely dangling free-willy off an electrical harness under the hood, on the driver's side near the brake-booster.
