In 1940, the surrender terms offered to France by victorious Germany were numerous and mostly harsh. Speaking generally, the terms of most significance were the occupation of the northern third of the country by German troops and the maintenance of strict neutrality by "Vichy France", the provisional government created by the treaty to administer the rest of the country, for the duration of the war. All of the French soldiers taken prisoner in the previous fighting were also to remain in German camps for the duration of the war.

Which conditions where responsible for the subsistence crisis in France during the french revolution?

the increase in population during 1715 to 1789 from 23 million to 28million.this lead to rapid demand for grain.the production of grain was insufficient for population.so the prices of bread rose which was the staple food for the majority.most of people worked on wages.price of bread increased but not wages.bad harvest worsened the situation.this lead to subsistence crisis.

What was the Munich Conference of 1938?

The Munich Conference was held in Munich, Germany on September 28-29, 1938, with the leaders of Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy. Adolf Hitler had demanded the possession of the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. (The area contained the Czech border fortifications and some heavy industry as well as 3 million Germans). British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain tried to talk him out of it. When Hitler would not back down, and even extended his demands, Chamberlain decided to follow a policy of "appeasement" and gave in to Hitler on this issue, in the hope that Hitler would not make any more demands. Thus, Chamberlain, French leader Edouard Daladier, and Italian dictator Benito Mussolini met in Munich with Hitler and agreed to the annexation of the Sudeten region to Germany. Czechoslovakia was not invited to attend. Hitler said that it was his "final demand" in Europe and Chamberlain returned to Britain and announced that he had achieved "peace in our time." However, just five months later, Hitler broke the spirit of the agreement by dismembering the rest of Czechoslovakia. Hitler's true intentions for Europe were made very clear, and France and Britain ended up looking foolish and being discredited.

Was the appeasment in world war 2 a mistake?

This is really a question of opinion but I study World War 2 a lot, so my opinion might amount to something. I think that it was a mistake because getting sudetenland from czechslovakia, strengthened Hitler's supporting base, which was vast enough already. The sudets were german-speaking people that felt persecuted in Czechslovakia. By appeasing to Hitler's demand, the allies made Germany stronger and well, truth be told, nobody really wanted to have another war. However, the war might not have lasted as long if they had nipped the problem in the buds which would be to say, no appeasement, and plot against Hitler since he had announced himself as an enemy of Europe. This is purely my opinion though.

How did Hitler respond to French and British appeasement?

he responded by asking for more and more. he broke the agreements made as a result of Germany apparently starting WW1. He was given land such as the Sudetenland through appeasement which caused him to undermine the power of Britain and France. he became more powerful and confident with each successful demand, and this is one of the caused of WW2.
