Mercedes requires that you use full synthetic SAE 10-40W motor oil with late model C class vehicles. Be careful, because my 2003 C240 required 6-7 quarts per oil change and this can become quite expensive. Also, I have been told by mechanics that once you begin using full synthetic oils you cannot return to a standard oil, as it will cause problems with the engine. Hope this helps.
