To remove the brake caliper you will need a REPAIR MANUAL, a wrench ( 15mm but depends on the year ) and a "C" clamp larger that 6 inches. You will also need a small punch and hammer for the front driver's side brake wear sensor and possibly a new sensor. You will need a torque wrench to properly remount your caliper. You will need jack stands, a lug wrench and a sturdy jack. If you are simply removing the caliper to replace the brake pads this list will suffice. If you are removing the caliper to replace it or rebuild it you will also need fitting wrenches for the brake lines, and something to catch the brake fluid that will come out. Jack up the vehicle and mount it on jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and wheel. Use your 15mm ( or whatever size ) wrench to take off the two bolts that hold the caliper onto the caliper mount. The heads of these bolts are toward the inside of the car. Put your C clamp across the top of the caliper and tighten it to squeeze the two parts relative to each other wich will loosen it's grasp on the brake disc. Carefully lift it up and do not let it hang by the brake line. If you are doing the front driver's side use your small punch and hammer to gently tap out the little metal piece holding it on. Inspect your rotor; if it is excessively worn or has grooves in it it needs to be machined or replaced. Replace the pads with new ones and use the blue "anti squeel" on the back of them. If you are doing the front drivers side put the new sensor in place and gently tap the retaining pin back in. Place the caliper back over your machined or new rotor. You may have to use the C clamp on it again. Put the two mounting bolts back in loosely until you have them both correctly threaded then torque them to the specs in your manual. When remounting the wheels use your torque wrench again and again to the specs in your manual. If the lugs are torqued unevenly you could warp your rotor. Inspect your brake fluid reservoir and I recommend bleeding the brake lines whenever replacing brake pads. Make sure you use the recommended brake fluid for these vehicles, some require DOT 4 and some DOT 5, again depending on the year. If you are removing the caliper to rebuild it or replace it you will undo the brake line to it and drain the brake fluid into a container. After reinstalling you will of course need to bleed your brake lines. Good luck with your project!
