the caliper needs a special tool. the piston does not push straight in. the spring needs to be released at the rear of the caliper. then using the special tool the piston twists back in to place

Remove wheels Make sure parking brake is released Remove caliper mounting bolts Remove Rotor Re-install caliper (for leverage) Remove brake pads Screw piston back into caliper (threaded due to parking brake) Special tool required available at Sears or auto parts not expensive Replace pads Remove caliper Install Rotor Re-Install caliper BE SURE TO PUMP BRAKES TO RESET PADS AGAINST ROTOR PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLE
there is no special tool to remove them but one is needed to compress them to get them back on for the rear.
To change the front wheel studs on a 1993 Chevy S10, you will need to remove the tire and brake caliper. If it is a floating rotor, you will need to remove the rotor. To install, you will need to use a special tool for removal. If the tool is not available, be prepared to use a large nut and washer for installation.
