A pangolin is a anteater that is covered in thick scales that protect it from predators. It looks a lot like a giant pine cone. It is rare because it's scales are also known to have healing abilities. And also it is considered a delicacy in Asia and other Middle East countries, their diet consist of mostly ants and termites. And that is basically a pangolin.

They are mammals of the order Pholidota. They are also called scaly anteaters.

The pangolin (also called the scaly anteater or tengigiling is a nocturnal animal with large scales of keratin. Pangolins have been compared visually to a pine cone or to a globe artichoke. They are carnivorous and look actively for insects with their excellent sense of smell. They reside in tropical areas of Africa and Asia. Their sharp claws allow them to burrow for food and provide an excellent defense. When threatened they curl up into a ball so that their scales provide a sort of armor. They also emit a foul smell from their anal glands similar to that of a skunk. Because they lack teeth they use their sharp claws and long lubricated tongue to eat insects. They have very developed problem solving areas of the brain which allow them to scour for food and escape dangerous situations. Although scientists currently disagree whether the pangolin is related to the anteater/sloth/armadillo or whether the genetic evidence makes them a better fit with carnivores. The pangolin is in the order Pholidota, the family Manidae, and the genus Manis.
