Hi,yes it works with Steering Wheel fluid. Some greetings from Germany
Automatic transmission fluid.
Automatic transmission fluid
Yes. Right below the alternator. The pump will also be belt driven. The fluid is located in the pump.
The power steering pump on a 1997 Cadillac Deville is changed by disconnecting the pressure hoses, draining the fluid, and unbolting the pump. It is then pulled from the vehicle and a new pump mounted in place.

On Bmw's you just have to keep cycling/operating, rechecking fluid level. The pump will quiet down when finished.
The reservoir is part of the pump and you will find a small rubber plug that you remove to fill the reservoir with hyd fluid.
The fluid could be leaking from the pump, hoses, or steering rack. Wash the steering system, then you can see where the leak is coming from.
The pump is behind the rear seat. You have to remove the seat back to access.
