Green, leatherback and loggerhead are all kinds of turtles.
The Loggerhead turtle and Green sea turtle are common sea turtles eaten by the tiger shark. Although, the loggerhead is more than 50% more likely to be eaten than a green sea turtle.
They are different by the size and the colour of their shell and skin. They are also different from they eat.
You should not own a sea turtle if you do not have a license to do so. It is highly illegal. If you have the license, than you have already taken the classes which contain this information. If you are possibly mistaken about what type of turtle you have, you can take it up to the pet store and they can ID it for you. They can tell you the appropraite food from there.
The loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, was given the English common name because it has such a large head. On this massive head is an incredibly powerful jaw that aids the loggerhead in consuming any type of food it can gets its mouth on. This can include corals, sponges, crabs, jellies, fish, other sea turtles, sea urchins and even octopi. They are true omnivores. This jaw is the most powerful jaw of all the sea turtles. Out of all the turtles in the world it has the second most powerful jaw coming in behind the Alligator snapping turtle.
They usually eat lettuce or grasshoppers but you can find a type of turtle food that is made specially for them....
There are different opinions: * You are only supposed to feed small turtles every other day, and only give them a little food, until they get older (but when they get older, still only feed them every other day). when you see the food dissapearing faster, feed them a little bit more. * You feed them once a day. You are supposed to feed them about two little sticks (the turtle food) per day. * Feed them at least five times a week.
They are several national lawa being passed to protect them like the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna, which means that international trade of this species is prohibited! Loggerhead sea turtles are protected by a lot of different national laws! For more information, go to google and type in Office of Protected Resources...on their home page, it will have different species of turtles and click on loggerhead turtle!
I would suggest checking to make sure you have the right type of food for your type of turtle. You can do this by simply googling the type of turtle you have and reading about it on Wikipedia. If you are positive you have the right type of food, then make sure you are feeding it the right proportions at the right times. Your turtle could be sick so i would strongly recommend seeing your local veterinarian.
