Both automatic and manual transmissions take Dexron II Transmission Fluid. As far as i know, Dexron II has been replaced with Dexron III, which has a couple more detergents and a AntiFoam additive. any local parts store, or large gas station will have this fluid available. Capacity:
Automatic--- with filter change 3.75qts
Automatic--- New or Rebuilt with no previous fluid 7.75qts
Manual---2.6qts
dex 6 auto trans fluid,
ON my 1999 sl2 it is the transmission fluid dipstick
It is ATF
do a 99 Saturn sl2 have a transmission pan gasket
It may require Dexron 3 or it may require a special Saturn fluid. Look in your owner's manual. If you do not have one call your local Saturn dealer. Using the wrong fluid can damage the transmission, so as I am not 100% sure, I cannot be positive.
You don't "pour" it in. Saturn uses a "sealed" transmission, meaning that you don't check the fluid level using a dipstick. There is an access hole on the side of the transmission.
The red dip-stick under the hood.
its a gm product so it should be dextron II but its ok to use dextron III its actually better to use

7.4 Quarts Application: With automatic transmission Total refill (includes torque converter)
When adding fluids to the car it is important to add the right type of fluids. A 2002 Saturn sc2 uses Dexron-III/Mercon transmission fluid.
there are no physical adjustments available for the Saturn automatic transmission.
