The Break With Rome was caused as Henry VIII wanted a Son to take to the heir after him. His wife at the time couldn't give birth and he asked the Pope for a divorce, he refused and Henry was not happy so he sacked the Pope and the newly appointed Arch Bishop of Canterbury gave Henry a divorce.

* The original religion was Catholic and Henry changed it to Protestant.

* Another reason for the Break with Rome was that the monasteries were rich and Henry wanted there money as he had spent a lot on wars.

If we are talking about a break between the Church in England and the Church of Rome? The first step took place in the reign of Henry the Eighth when on being thwarted in his plans, Henry resurrected a genuine canon of the Council of Nice, that prevented Bishops interfering in other Bishops Sees without prior permission! On Henry and the English Church enforcing it, the Pope cut off Communion with HENRY! Not with the English Church! Communion between the two churches existed till 1570, when the pope issued a fatwa against Elizabeth the 1st. The Bishop of Rome then quoted a recent canon of the Robber Council at Trent and called upon his supporters in the Anglican Church to go in to schism and start a new branch of the Roman Catholic Church!

The "Break with Rome" is the abolishment of the catholic church in England. It began during Henry VIII's reign when the Pope in Rome was taking taxes from England for his own use. Another reason why he did this was the wanted to marry Anne Bolyne but was not allowed becauce he was still married to Catherine of Aragon. Henry decided to establish his own church called "The Church of England". This action almost privocked a European war. Henry VIII got rid of all elabourate decorations in the churches (which are common in Catholic churches) and changed the bibles into English instead of Latin. He gave the abandoned land of the old monastries to his most loyal subjects and stole the riches and treasures to help fight the war in France. England has been the same ever since.

it was very significant because because then England was dependent on Rome and the pope to make certain decisions, the fact that Henry broke with Rome excommunicated from Europe. he did so because the pope would not annul the marriage of him and Queen Catherine. that was when he broke with the church and created his on church "the church of England" of which he was head of. braking with Rome crated a new type of church, witch is more commonly known as the Anglican church.
