New England is a region of the United States that consists of the modern states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Each state has its own capitol, but there is no one capital for New England.

In 1643 the colonies of Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Plantation, New Haven, and Connecticut created a loose compact called the New England Confederation. This was to coordinate mutual defense against the Native Americans and didn't have a single capital, either.
