Roger Williams believed Puritans had too many remnants of the Anglican Church in their faith. He further held that the King of England had no right to take land from the Native Americans.
Roger Williams formed the Providence Plantations in Rhode Island on land he purchased from the local Narragansett Indian Tribe in 1636, after he was banished by the Massachusetts Colony.
