There was a covenant but it is not exclusive to Judaism. The covenant also applies to Islam.
Judaism refers to the descendants of Judah, who was a great-grandson of Abraham. The covenant was broader than just applying to Judah. Ismail was also a son of Abraham and was the ancestor of the Muslim people.
covenant
The covenant between Abraham and God (see Genesis ch.15 and 17).
Judaism's roots are in the Hebrew religion of Abraham; and in the Israelite religion of Moses. According to tradition, "Judaism" as such began with the covenant between Abraham and God.
The connection between Islam, Christianity and Judaism is that the three religions trace their history to the covenant between God and Abraham.
The agreement between God and Abraham. God told Abraham to get a "brit milah", which is circumcision, and he did. But before that all happened, there is a story that is interesting about how the people in the city where Abraham lived (Ur Chasdim), everyone believed that the idols moved the world and then Abraham realized they were stupid and wrong. Abraham smashed the idols, leaving one standing, and placed the hammer in its hand. Abraham began to preach his learnings of monotheism and soon, it became a tribe as he traveled and taught everyone. Soon, there was the nation of AM YISRAEL (Nation of Israel)
The Abrahamic Covenant.
Both Islam and Christianity originated out of Judaism.
Traditional Judaism only has one covenant. It is an agreement between G-d and the Jewish people.
Judaism is the oldest of the three, focusing on the covenant between God and the Jewish people. Christianity believes in Jesus as the son of God and savior of humanity. Islam sees Muhammad as the final prophet and the Quran as the holy book. Each religion has different beliefs, practices, and interpretations of scripture.
God would bless Abraham and his descendants.
All three religions track back to Abraham and the general track of revelations by God to the Israelite people.
All three religions start with Abraham. He had two sons. The youngest son Isaac went and continued Judaism, from which Christianity formed. The oldest son was left out in the desert. He eventually founded the Islamic faith.
Judaism is the religion founded by Abraham. Judaism may be influenced by Zorastrianism or simple cultural religions in the middle eastern area. Some believe that Judaism influenced or was influenced by Egyptian Atenism. Muslim Answer Judaism religion was not founded by Abraham. Judaism religion is the religion founded by God per God's revelation of the holy book of the Torah to prophet Moses. Answer The tradition of the Jewish people, and the Torah Sages and Talmud, is that Abraham founded Judaism. He lived 3800 years ago. This tradition is implicit in many passages in the prophets (e.g. Isaiah 41:8) and the Talmud (e.g. Yoma 28b) and is borne out by a reading of Genesis. God calls himself "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" eighteen times in the Torah, and that is how we address Him every day in the Shemoneh Esrei prayer.
