If you mean Great Britain (England Wales and Scotland but not Northern Ireland) then approximately 59,853,300.
If however you mean the UK (i.e. the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) then the 2009 estimate is 61,612,300. The last census in 2001 was 58,789,194. The next census is due 2011.

According to an estimate by the US Census Bureau web site (see link below) in July of 2008, the UK total population was estimated at 60,944,000. This was projected based upon the 2001 UK census and the annual rate of growth estimates.
The average annual rate of growth has been 0.3%, therefore, based upon this, the estimated population of the UK in July of 2009 was projected to be 61,126,832.
A census is taken every ten years in the UK, the next one is due in 2011.

From the UK National Statistics Online site (see link below), a report dated August of 2008 updated the data, and the new estimates from the Office for National Statistics indicated that the population of the UK was 60,975,000 in mid-2007.
This is an increase of 388,000 (0.6 %) from the previous year, showing a jump in the average annual rate of growth from the prior estimates. This created a population growth of nearly two million more than were counted in the last census, in mid-2001 .
Using that data to project the estimated population for mid-2009, assuming the average rate of growth since mid-2007 has also been 0.6%, then the projection would be a mid-2009 population of 61,708,895.
