One reason was Jesus healed people on the sabbath on which under Jewish law, most kinds of work are forbidden(and punishable by death).

(read John chapter 5 verses 8 to 18)To quote John 5:17-18 :

"17 But he answered them: "My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working." 18 On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God."

Also Jesus rebuked the Jewish religious leaders for failing to carry out their own law properly.

( read Mathew chapter 23 verses 13 to 32)To quote Mathew 23:23 :

"23 "Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU give the tenth of the mint and the dill and the cumin, but YOU have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law, namely, justice and mercy and faithfulness. These things it was binding to do, yet not to disregard the other things. 24 Blind guides, who strain out the gnat but gulp down the camel!"

Since the Jews where under roman governance, the Jewish religious leaders tried to get roman authorities to kill Jesus for them.

(read Mathew chapter 27 verses 15 to 23) verse 20 proves this:

" 20 But the chief priests and the older men persuaded the crowds to ask for Bar·ab′bas, but to have Jesus destroyed. 21 Now in responding the governor said to them: "Which of the two do YOU want me to release to YOU?" They said: "Bar·ab′bas." 22 Pilate said to them: "What, then, shall I do with Jesus the so-called Christ?" They all said: "Let him be impaled!" 23 He said: "Why, what bad thing did he do?" Still they kept crying out all the more: "Let him be impaled!""

Jesus met some of their "requirements" of what the Messiah would be like. However, He broke some of their religious rules.

Many of the Jewish religious leaders were so intent on their rules and laws and their position that they wouldn't see Jesus for who He was. They saw the miracles and refused to acknowledge that they came from God.

Even Pilate saw the issue with the authorities. Mark 15:10 "For he (Pilate) was aware that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy."

Why did Roman officials and many Jewish leaders regard Jesus as a troublemaker?

The only Roman official with whom Jesus ever interacted was Pontius Pilate. All the other Romans with whom He interacted were soldiers and functionaries [tax collectors]. None of the soldiers who interacted with Him ever displayed any fear of Jesus. Many believed in Him, trusted Him, and asked Him to intervene for them. That leaves Pilate. Pilate wasn't afraid of Jesus either. If he had been, he wouldn't have sentenced Him to death. No, the people whom Pilate feared were the people in the crowd in the judgment court where Jesus was tried. It was their threat to begin an insurrection that he feared. That's why he caved in to their pressure. So - Who's next on the officials list?

What happened as a result of Jesus being considered a threat to Rome?

Jesus Christ was not percieved as a threat to Roman Officials. He was percieved as a threat by the Jewish Pharisees in the area he preached. They used threats of rioting and violence against the Roman Officials, namely Pontius Pilate, to have him executed. The Pharisees were comprable to Bishops in the Catholic Church, and believed that if Jesus amassed too many followers they would lose power amongst the Jewish people.
