The Triple Entente was more vast than the Central Powers (comprising of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy) and in the beginning had the clear naval advantage. In addition they had excellent trading routes, a network of Allies, and were located on both sides of the Central Powers allowing for a double sided attack.
