Approximately 15,600 soldiers from the Caribbean fought in World War 1 as part of the British West Indies Regiment, with the majority coming from Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados. They served in various theaters of the war, including the Middle East and Europe.

The Pacific War was part of World War 2. It consumed resources that would otherwise have been available to other theaters of war, just as it was denied resources needed for those other theaters. So its effect was that it took longer, and required more resources, to prosecute the entire war.
In World War I, approximately 4.7 million U.S. military personnel were mobilized, with about 2 million deployed to Europe. In World War II, around 16 million Americans served in the armed forces, with approximately 10 million deployed to various theaters of war worldwide.
