The city of Rome was ideally located especially for an ancient city. It was built on and around hills which were easily defensible. It was located far enough from the ocean to be safe from pirate raides, yet close enough to have access to the sea. It was also located on a spot in the Tiber which was easy to Ford to give them access to the interior of Italy.

Rome was located near the Tiber River, allowing fertile land, nearby water source, and easy trading through water. Also, there were high hills protecting Rome. All around Rome, there were flat grounds so that Rome could see approaching foes and allies. Rome was very wellgeographically located, so its beginning time was protected so that it could conquer many other civilizations around it.
