US tanks were named after US (and some Confederate) Generals: Medium tanks were Lee, Grant, Sherman, and the M26 General Pershing tank. Light tanks were the Stuart and Chaffee tanks. The M26 was classified as a heavy tank for morale purposes, then reclassified back to it's real category of a medium tank. With some modifications, the M26 became the M46 Patton during the Korean War. Which was the FIRST of the Patton series tanks; which ended with the Vietnam War M48 Patton. The US Army's M60 Combat tank was never named after a General and became the US Army's first MBT (Main Battle Tank) in 1960.

The Soviet T34 Medium Tank and T35 are considered the best tank in WW2 by both the military generals and the WW2 historians. They had the best armor, they were the fastest and had the best guns. They could squash a Nazi Tiger Tank (which some say is the best but they are not the majority).
