Federalists were for a strong federal government and didn't think that the Bill of Rights is necessary for the government to run without corruption.

Anti-federalists thought that the Constitution didn't properly protect their rights like a Bill of Rights would do.

However, in the end the Federalists let the anti-federalists have the Bill of Rights.

Federalists supported the ratification of the Constitution. They supported the policies of the Washington administration and admired Britain, but the distrusted France. They favored banking and shipping interests. Federalists received the strongest support from the Northeast, especially from New England, and from wealthy planters in the South.

Antifederalists opposed the ratification of the Constitution. They thought it would take away citizens' liberties. They preferred local government close to the people. Although they were not as welly organized as the Federalists, the Antifederalists had few dedicated supporters.
