Germany was forced to sign a type of contract (the treaty of versailles) which said they were completely to blame for ww1 and if they didnt sign it they would go back to war with the allies. The germans also lost a lot of land and that they had like Poland. they also had to pay billions of pounds to countrys because of the war. they had to give France 200 billion! you can imagine how much that is now imagine what it would have been like back then. this meant money was short and there money inflated.
