New England was predominantly seperatist as it was a family oriented colony because of it's strong religious ties. While the south was primarily a money oriented area. They were religious but they were catholic and not as tight-knit. The New Englanders were close with their family and rejected outsiders whereas teh south would sell their brothers if it earned them money.
