most common cause is the tcc,it will feel like a stick shift car when coming to a stop and you forget to push in the clutch...pay lots of money to have it replaced or just unplug the 4 wire plug from the front side of the transmission and no more lock/up blues,,,this is also a way of conforming tcc solenoid failure
There are several things that can cause your 1988 Cutlass supreme to stall out while driving down the road. The most common cause is a malfunctioning fuel pump.
I would check clutch plate, if faulty renew, the clutch might need adjusting.
your torque converter has locked up.... it's like having a manual transmission with no clutch.
Stalling at idle? Immediately after starting? While driving? While stopping? Cold or hot engine? What engine do you have?
yes, it would. long starts and sputtering are other symptoms
Had a 1995 Cavalier with a similar problem. It was some type of solenoid on the transmission (automatic). Cost about $500 to replace at the dealer.
A problem in the fuel line could cause it to stall. On a stick shift, letting off the clutch too soon would cause the vehicle to stall.
It stalls even when warm
No. The water on the road won't make your vehicle stall.
stall at a higher airspeed.
A bad water pump can cause your car to stall if the bearing has failed or it is causing overheating. A seized bearing will put excessive strain on the engine and stall it out.
