In the first place; oil will Not be running out for hundreds of years. Then there are other ways to power a vehicle besides gas/diesel. I am positive someone in Europe and/or Asia will invent an efficient battery (similar to the type of battery that Chevron/Texaco is keeping from the people with the approval of the USA federal government). Once Europe and/or Asia invents this very good battery, all types of machines will be run by it, with the exception of jets and rockets/missiles. The bottom line is: Don't worry about it. "Necessity is the mother of invention". Humans will always find ways to solve their problems.

Nothing. There is plenty of other energy resources. There is so much worry about what will happen when all oil reserves are depleted. By that time we will have advanced technology for electric cars that could travel the circumference of the world. A nuclear explosion releases a huge amount of energy. Imagine if that energy can be safely channeled to homes, factories, and transportation. Nuclear reactors are enough to power the world after there is no oil. There is wind power and solar power and many other undiscovered energy sources. When oil runs out there will be a lot of change, but it will work.
