several do. depending what part of the fuse box is dead the fusebox has two sections one that has power all the time and the other that has power only when the key is on. but fortunately they share a common connection. they both connect to the battery cable down at the starter with what they call "fuse links" fuse links are wire that are designed to burn out under excessive load like a fuse. so first make sure they are not corroded or disconnected and work your way up the fuse links (small wires attached to the battery cable) and test for power about 6 inches up from the starter's battery cable if there is no power there you need to cut and replace the fuse link. DO NOT just splice in a piece of wire. if there is a short in the system you will cause a fire and for that matter it would be a good idea to check for a short before replacing the fuse link. a easy way is to remove the clock fuse if you have one and connect a 12volt testlight to the wire above the fuselink crimp connection (pencil diameter and about a inch long & black) and then to the battery cable.. key off doors closed and everything in the off position. if the light lights brightly you have a short and need to fix it first if the light does not light replace the fuselink and enjoy. hopefully memory serves me right.. there should be 3 fuselinks attached to the batterycable at the starter one is for the alternator the other 2 are for the fusebox.
There should be a radio fuse in the fusebox that you will want to tie your radio wire into.
under the seat. on battery positive wire. one red wire goes to the stater solenoid. the other wire, which has the fuse on it, powers everything else on your bike.
There is no such thing as a timing advance wire on a 84 El Camino.
NO. Usually the positive wire will have the fuse.
Why is it dangerous to replace a fuse with a wire that bypasses the fuse
The 15 amp fuse.
A circuit breaker does not have a wire fuse in it.
Fuse wire is designed to open under over current conditions. Just like a fuse.
yes there is a fuse in the fuse box. the wire will lead to it or to the ignition switch. But the fuse to amke the hot wire hot is in the under dash mounted fuse box.
my question is why do you want to do this? then i might be able to help. if your trying to hook it up for the power feed wire to the stereo, go to the fuse panel and with a test light check for a fuse that powers up with key on and then turn the key off to see if power gose away. if it dose they sell a clip u put in under the fuse and u can hook the wire into thet clip.
Check for recalls first then I would estimate either an overload on the circuit, bad wiring harness between particular fuse and the component it powers, or a loose wire.
Isolate the cicuit in question, or turn off power altogether. Remove the burned/fused section of the fuse wire in the fuse carrier and replace with the recommended fuse wire. Turn power back on.
