What would be the next step 1997 Aspire will intermittentaly not start you turn the key and nothhing you replaces the battery and still the same problem?

Next time it won't start, try turning the key to "Start", then move the gearshift. If it engages when you move the gearshift, it could be the neutral lockout safety switch is either bad or mis-aligned. I found that in my 5 speed it was the starter. everything would lite up just not start, so i push started it and it would start.
