Thermostat stuck closed or only partially open: check upper radiator hose when Jeep is at normal operating temperature (180-200 degree F). If upper radiator hose is cold, thermostat is stuck closed, warm it may be partially open or need of replacement. Hose should be hot. Check for leaks in coolant system, especially in the rubber hoses. If coolant is bubbling & overflowing as if under pressure & does this more so after you turn the engine off, this could be a leak in the coolant system which is causing the coolant system to dry in air like a vacuum, causing the system to be more pressurized. Also check&/or replace Coolant Tank cap as it might not be releasing the excessive pressure in the coolant system. Or, headgasket leak could be causing build of pressure of combustion to get into the coolant system and/ or similiar. Also check to see that Radiator Fan is turning on when engine gots hot (around 195-210 degrees F) If not, check and test the fan & Fan Relay. NOTE: I saw quite a bit of this on an outing where the drivers put their jeep through a mud hole and coated the radiator. An hour or so later they were overheating because they fins of the radiator were unable to cool through the coating of mud.
There are a few reasons why a 1992 Jeep Wrangler 2.4 liter would overheat. Some of the reasons are low antifreeze levels, radiator leaks, or fan malfunction.
for the 88 it is on the driver side fender under the water overflow
It means that one of the gauges on not in the safe area, ie overheat, not charging, no oil pressure.....
Keep the coolant temperature below 260 degrees Fahrenheit or you may overheat it.
If the headlights do not come on and the parking lights do in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, it is possible that the fuse is blown for the headlamps. It is also possible for them to both be burned out due to touching the glass part when installing them. Oil in the fingers will overheat them and burn them out.
Numerous possible reasons - low coolant, defective radiator, leaky hoses, bad thermostat, blown head gasket... take your pick
Low coolant? Air flow through radiator restricted? Hoses collapsing under pressure? Defective radiator cap?
usually when a water pump goes bad your bearing in the pulley on it will start sqealing or your car starts to overheat quite frequently
I have an 88 wrangler and my ICM is on the inside of my driver's side fender, under the coolant overflow jug. You have to take the jug out to get to it. Though yours may be different, i know some things were changed on the YJ after "91, like FI. Home this helps someone
there is an electrical short in the blower motor, making wires overheat. replace blower motor
A wrangler car is another term for the Jeep wrangler. I was unable to find a specific listing for wrangler car that did not include the Jeep wrangler.
It should. A 2005 wrangler hardtop fits a 1997 wrangler.
