The carburretor float valve is stuck open or the float is punctured/stuck down.
An air cleaner in car will prevent the engine from pulling in any particles of dirt and/or debris that may cause damage to the cylinders.
Blown head gasket is one cause.

It can and it will eventually cause the engine to self destruct and you will be not running at all.
Most likely you mite have too big of a carburetor on your engine.
If you have a "check engine" light on, start with having the codes read. A misfire code can tell you which cylinder or cylinders are having problems. A misfire could be the cause of your engine vibration.
Burning excessive oil in the cylinders is the culprit. Scored cylinders and broken rings will usually contribute to blue smoke. Once it turns black, the engine is toast!
A bad fuel injector will cause a quad 4 2.3L engine to be dead on 1 and 4 cylinders. It is best to have a mechanic take a look at the quad for further information.
