Turning the steering wheel farthest left or right for a few seconds will cause a loud squealing.
The cause of the squealing sound is because you are turning the steering wheel completely to the right or left
Power Steering pump my have a leak...
if the pump has failed completely it will cause stiff turning, obviously not being assisted by power. if the pump is failing there may be a squealing sound when turned in either direction. This is not to be confused with the squealing made when turning the wheel to its limits.
Power steering belt slipping?
Power Steering Fluid Or Power Steering Pump
might be your power steering or something in that nature
Many things can cause that, the simplest cause being lack of power steering fluid.
A bad alternator. Turning the steering wheel all the way is very demanding on the power steering which draws power from the engine and can cause the idle to dip down. A weak alternator is usually the cause for the stalling.
Bad wheel bearings usually cause a grinding noise, and are known to only cause it when turning.
Low steering fluid can cause a steering wheel to whine when turning. A worn steering belt can also cause a steering wheel to whine when a car is being turned.
