Check the lug nuts immediately. Check tha clip that holds the brake pad on. I had a loose pad that made more of a tick sound that went away when I pressed on the brakes
Have that tire checked sometimes the belts inside can break and cause a thumping noise
This is often a problem with the CV joint.
No one can offer you a *safe* answer - the ONLY thing you should do it take the car for a professional inspection. You can hope for something simple like a tire gone bad, but only a real live person looking at the vehicle can tell you what is wrong - and you don't want to be taking chances when it comes to the front steering/suspension/braking/linkages of your car.
Hey Sandra==The only thing I can think of is if the engine and trans mounts are broken. Have them checked out. Good luck, Joe
The cause of the clunking is probably the sway bar link. They are made of white platic and eventually wear out. Both sides were shot on my 2001 Taurus at 75,000 miles. It is a job you can do your self if you are handy with tools. The parts are About $28.00 per side at your local auto parts store and about $38.00 each at the Ford Dealer.
It is most likely one of three things... 1 broken strut spring 2 worn out sway bar bushing 3 loose muffler
The diagnostic port on a 94 Ford Taurus is located under the hood near the firewall usually on the driver's side. Ford started producing the Taurus in 1985.
worn suspension (ie), ball joints , tie rod ends also possibly cv joint wear but most likely ball joints worn your answer here...
Check the entire front end. Wheel bearings, ball joints and tie rod ends can all wear and call this problem.
You could try testing the hub. lift car and shake tire. if it shakes you need a new hub. My 1998 Taurus has a tortion/sway bar in the back. There is a rod that holds the end of the tortion bar in place. I had a thumping noise and found out that the end of that rod had broken off. The rod was about $10.00 at the local auto part store. It was very easy to replace. Jack up car, remove rear wheel and then the rod has rubber bushings and a nut at each end to hold it on.
The Ford Taurus is equipped with an Inertial Fuel Shutoff Switch that is triggered when the vehicle is hit from behind or involved in an accident. This switch can inadvertently trigger during aggressive braking or road conditions. On the 1996-1999 Generation 3 Ford Taurus/ Mercury Sable, It is located in the trunk, on the right side behind the carpet paneling in a harness block attached to the upper trunk wall.
You are a Taurus. Congratulations!
