What would cause a tranny on a 94 LeSabre to be stuck in neutral at cold start drives and shifts normally after warm up tranny replaced with the same result?

2 trannys with same problem?
computer controlled , yes , no power is third gear. is car in neutral or just slipping in 3rd?
If in third, suspect wiring problem
If is in neutral could be fluid or mechanical problem
Warm it up, try a launch test to see if it slips when warm

I had the same problem with a 1992 Park Avenue with the 3800 engine. I first replaced the electronic ignition but that did not fix the problem. I then replaced the crankshaft heat sensor. That fixed my problem.
