Someone suggested that it may be caused by the "bendix" (which is pushed forward when turning the ignition key to engage the flywheel) Instead of the bendix retracting back to its original position once the engine starts, it may be getting stuck (engaged) with the flywheel.
No. The first Accord with VTEC was the '94 EX model.
Engine timing is VERY retarded. My first guess: the distributor clamp has loosened.
I suspect a bad distributor. Honda distributors have been known to fail.
1) normal operation when cold or 2) vacuum leak cause by shrunken gasket
I have a 1990 Honda accord ex and my check engine light the car goes form a high rev to a low rev when I first turn on the car. Is this a vacume line problem or a voltage problem?
Yes, the 1997 Honda Accord is an interference engine. You MUST change the cam belt every 105,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first. Also replace the water pump at the same time.
6 months or 3,000 miles. Whichever comes first.
Yes it is. The cam belt must be replaced every 110,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first.
not enough oil in the engine.
A 1997 Honda Accord has two fuse box locations. The first is located in the engine compartment and the second is in the cabin under the driver side dash board.
The cam belt must be replace on the 1987 Honda Accord every 60,000 miles or 10 years whichever comes first. Warning: This is an interference engine.
You can disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes which may or may not reset the check engine light. If that does not work you will need to have it reset with an OBD2 scan tool. Know that the light will just come back on if you do not repair the problem that cause the light to come on in the first place.
