have you checked the sensor for the break fluid
You can also check your parking brake, make sure it is all the way up and check the switch on it also for proper adjustment.
1997olds 88 the brake chime will not shut off where is the sensor so i can disengage it
low on gas maybe
One probably cause is that the door is slightly ajar. Another is a faulty door switch ... if the contacts aren't closing properly, leaving the circuit open with the door shut securely, the door chime will sound.
Fluid Level? If you are referring to the red brake light on the instrument cluster it could be for a variety of reasons. The only one that I'm familiar with is the brake fluid level. If the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir is too low it will cause the brake light to stay on and chime continuously. Check the level and fill with the appropriate type of brake fluid (probably DOT3). You may also want to make sure the master cylinder isn't leaking brake fluid as well (this will be easy to tell if the brake light comes back on within the next few days after filling the reservoir)
There is a small switch inside the steering column lock mechanism. When that switch fails it can cause the door alarm to chime. The chime is supposed to inform you that the key is still in the lock, but when that switch fails it can certainly cause the problem you described.
Buckle seat belts
Check to make sure that the plug (there normally is a piece of plastic that pushes in the switch to make the chime go off) Go and push the button in by hand with your keys on if it goes off than this is the problem. If the chime does not go off after a few seconds than the problem is that the switch mechanism in the chime is malfunctioning and you need to go and pull the chime and either leave it out or replace it.
most buzzers are located on the driver side up underneath the brake pedal
that chime is telling you that the door is open if you have owner manuel, you can find in manuel how to turn off the door open chime from working
Finally took it to the dealer. Short in the ingintion switch - $300 repair
A wind chime makes its music when the chime is rattled by wind or another force, and the hanging tubes that make up the chime collide. They cause each other to vibrate, producing a resonating "ringing" sound.
check your brake fluid level, that's what usually makes it come on then go back off
