Coral reefs help shield shorelines against waves,storms, floods helping prevent loss of life, property and damage. it also would not support Florida which relies on coral to keep it up. they are being destroyed by dragging of nets off of the backs of boats and by global warming. global warming changes the temperature of the waters causing coral to bleach bleaching occurs when the temperature changes or when they are stressed.
