It really depends on your income and lifestyle (New York City is a lot more expensive than some small rural towns). And are you talking about ALL the groceries (which include things other than food, like personal care products, household cleansers, pet supplies, etc.)? Do you entertain frequently? Are you including alcohol in the tally? Is she a shopper who feels the need to stockpile lots of cans and boxes to make sure you don't run out of anything? Are you including your dining out expenses (even Starbucks can add up). $3000 does sound high for three people. We have a family of five and live in a fairly affluent area and I'd guess my "big" shop each week runs about $250. Then there are all the little trips to get just one thing where I end up spending $25 here, $50 there. So I'd guess our grocery bill for a month is at most $2000 per month. At the rate she's spending, your family is eating about $100 a day in meals. I understand why this would make you unhappy, but if her spending is that out of control, odds are she's unhappy about something too.
My wife is spending 3,000 dollars a month and I am unhappy.

A family of five.... i am guessing this consists of you and your spouse, and three children. Obviously i don't know their age or there dislikes and likes are but on average, they probably don't like the same things.
£100 a week so probably £400 a month. This would consist of food, cleaning products, general utilities for around the house, that sneaky £20 that went missing when you hand your teenager purse.
If your about to cry, my advise is to find a line between quality and quantity and go for more quantity - obviously not to the extent of buying mouldy products, but again find a middle. You can also help yourself buy, keeping some left overs, using minimum cleaning products, re-using clothes until you REALLY need to put it in the wash. These little things are life savers, and gradually build up a safe supply of money.
Also declare a pot or jar, the rainy day pot/jar, and add any change you found in your pocket, a couple on pence that the till gave you that you don't want to keep in your purse, a £10 note you found on the floor. Count up the total amount of money every... 2 months and you will be surprised of how much your are saving!
well why would i tell you bit ch's as shole??
200 for myself, and 300 more for socials and treating friends.
For a family of four, I say its about $100 to $200.
