Pull off the Center panel with care starting at the bottom corners. Pull the radio out. Directly behind where the radio was you will see a plastic funnel which feeds hot to your windshield defroster. the door is at the lower point of the funnel just below the gray foam strips. If you stick a couple fingers above the foam tape and press down you will feel the area / or the Blend door itself at you fingertips. Be careful, there is a spinning fan in there somewhere. My problem is I cannot get this door to open with the door control selected for defroster only.

Antifreeze contains chemicals which have a much lower freeze temperature than just water. That resists freezing when the vehicle is not being operated. During operation, when coolant cycles through the system, heat from the engine is transferred to the coolant... this heats up the coolant... that heat is then exchanged to the air which blows through the radiator fins.
