It breeds in Siberia and Central Asia, (known as the Turkestan Shrike, Lanius isabellinusphoenicuroides) and China (known as the Daurian Shrike, L. i. isabellinus), and winters in the tropics. It is rare in Western Europe and Great Britain, usually in autumn.
